AGJobs.Org has developed this policy to help our members understand the displaying of real names throughout the AGJobs.Org Services. Should at any point in time the below policy conflict with our Terms of Service, the Terms of Service will override this policy
The AGJobs.Org Services requires all users to use their real name for public display.
Frequently asked questions:
· Why Does AGJobs.Org have this enforced policy in place?
AGJobs.Org makes connecting with people on the web more like connecting with people in the real world. We believe that you go by your first and last name it will help you connect with people you know and help them find you. We do not believe that Christians should lie about who they are. We do not believe that Christians should hide their faith. These are contrary to the role and responsibility of a Christian.
· Can I use professional titles like “Rev.” or "Father" or “Dr.” in my name?
No. We realize that professional titles can be a nice way to further promote yourself and your educational and employment experience, but as a Service Provider we cannot find any reason for such promotion on an individual level, given the fact that AGJobs.Org is a community-style website.
· How do I add a nickname or other name to my profile?
When you register your account you create your nickname.
· Can I just use my initials or my first name?
You must provide a two-part name. It’s acceptable for one of these to be an initial, but not both. For example, “Jane Smith,” “Jane S.,” and “J. Smith” are allowed, but “J. S.” is not allowed. Subnames can be used as a first or middle name if they are a variation of your real first (like Bob instead of Robert).
· Can I use some fun punctuation to make my name look different?
No. Profile names such as, “Matthew 12” and “M@rk Sm1th” aren't allowed.
· Can I create a profile for TobyMac or Francesca Battistelli or other celebrities?
No. Impersonation is a serious issue. Pretending to be someone else could cause your profile to be suspended.
If someone is pretending to be you, you can report them by visiting their profile and clicking the “Report” option.
· What can I do if my profile name violates the policy?
If your profile is determined to not meet our policy, you will be notified. The right thing to do would be to make sure that your account settings contains both your first name and your last name.
· Can I use just one name?
No. Two part names make the website much easier to use and better for our users. If you actually do have a single-part name, then you should enter it as your first name, and as your last name, then go through the appeals process by contacting us.
· When does this policy take affect?
This policy went into affect for all users of the AGJobs.Org Services on December 01, 2013.
· Why are more and more websites forcing people to use their real names?
While we cannot speak for other websites, we do know that a lot of it has to do with more and more websites taking the stance that if people use their real names, and not hide behind a pseudonym, they are more likely to behave in a manner more becoming of themselves. As Christians we should be holding the higher standard and it is just a natural fit that as a Christian website we take the higher path. There have been numerous and global internet and social arguments about forcing people to use their real names - so much so, in fact, that the term Nymwars was even created.
· What if I live in a country where it is illegal to proclaim my Christian faith?
This is paramount to asking us permission for you to break the law. As a Christian Service we are not going to answer you with an answer that suggests you break the law.
· Single Name Per Account:
Only one person's name should be listed on the account – accounts are for individual use only
· My native name is not in English, do I still have to use English?
Yes. The Content Policy states, "AGJobs.Org requires that users publish content that only contains English (either American or Britain) language at all times".
· Having Problems?
If your real name is not listed on your account and you are unable to change it, let us know.
